Last Friday I picked up a new mentor at Tufts and a recommendation to look into triple board residency programs. Dr. Sargent, the director of Child and Adolescent Psych at Tufts, is himself triple board certified in pediatrics, child psych, and adult psych, although he did it the inefficient way, by doing multiple training programs sequentially. The triple board residency is a five-year extravaganza in pediatrics, adult psych, and child psych. There are only nine such programs in the country. It sounds kind of cool, but honestly, as I progress in medical school and in various career explorations, I keep thinking that less is more. I kind of just want to be a regular doctor. You know?
I am: Vietnamese-American, half-generation immigrant, female, MIT alum, MD/MPH candidate at Tufts University. I write about: medicine, public health, education, health policy, social justice, and whatever else I find interesting. My opinions do not represent those of any of the above groups or organizations.
